Frequently Asked Questions
Question: How is the energyEGG® different from motion controlled lights?
Answer: Motion controlled lights can be found in many office spaces. They often cut out when there is one person in the office and they are sat still. The energyEGG® has patent pending technology that evaluates whether or not you are sat still or the room is unoccupied. This means it will not switch off during your favourite T.V. moment because you are not moving.
Question: How many energyEGGs® do I need?
Answer: We recommend that you try one in the living room. The room with the most appliances is the one where you can save most money. After that you may want to try one in the kitchen or bedroom.
Question: How many sockets do I need?
Answer: You get one socket in a box. This has a 3000w rating therefore you can connect a power strip to it and have it controlling multiple sockets. You may of course need more sockets if you have a large open living space and if you do not the whole area to be a spaghetti junction of wires. If you need more sockets click here.
Question: How many sockets can an energyEGG® control?
Answer: An energyEGG® can control up to 12 sockets.
Question: What is the range of an energyEGG®?
Answer: It has a range of 20m.
Question: Will it switch on appliances when I walk in the room?
Answer: No. Our customer feedback found that people were generally uncomfortable with appliances coming on automatically when they entered the room and preferred to press a button. There is a big manual on/off button at the top of the energyEGG®. Great for switching everything on/off at the touch of a button!
Question: Can I safely use an energyEGG® with a computer or laptop?
Answer: Computers and laptops must be set-up to go into sleep mode before power is turned off. Details of set-up included in the instruction manual.
