Building support from the Royal Society of Edinburgh and the University of Strathclyde, and having won an award from the National Endowment for Science, Technology and the Arts (NESTA), the energyEGG® has gone from Brian’s original proof of concept to a product sold on Tesco Direct. The team at TreeGreen expect families to save between £60 and £120 per year. You can use our Energy Saving Calculator to work out how much you can save.

TreeGreen’s aim is to continue to deliver smart products that do not force us to change our lifestyle, but still save us money, reduce our energy wastage and make our homes just that little bit safer in the process.

Yours sincerely,

Brian O’Reilly

Founder and CEO

Brian O’Reilly, inventor of TreeGreen’s energyEGG®, realised that actively reducing energy use didn’t mean a disruptive change in lifestyle, and could save money for his family. Frustrated after seeing his three young daughters continually leave games consoles, TVs, DVD player and hair straighteners switched on when they had finished using them, Brian was inspired to design a product that would simply, yet effectively, cut needlessly wasted energy.

Like many families, the team here at TreeGreen have all experienced the stress of rising household energy bills and the frustration of seeing energy wasted in the home.

Add to this the continued challenges of global warming, and it became obvious that we all need to make a change to do our bit for the environment and reduce the amount of energy we use.
